Bot on bot debacle
« on: November 06, 2019, 01:35:58 pm »
I had two battles in my Alsace this morning, where I was the only human in the battle. The first one I made it all the way to me, one allied BB and one enemy BB left. The enemy BB was a Friedrich der Grobe. The other allied BB was an Iowa. I got the Grobe down to half HP before it sank me. So it was bot on bot. So I thought I would watch in the hopes my bot would win, instead of just leaving the game and getting a draw.

Then I watched as a full health Iowa got its ass kicked by a half health Grobe. What's even worse is that the Iowa got the Grobe down to quarter health and could have sunk it if it would have just turned and fired a full broadside. The Iowa kept itself stern to while the Grobe kept showing its broadside for long periods of time.

The Iowa spent that remaining battle sailing from one side of the battlefield to the other to go capture the furthest point that was in enemy hands. It sailed right toward, then past the Grobe, and continued on to the capture point. The Grobe approached the Iowa but after they passed each other turned back and kept pursuing the Iowa. The Iowa was able to get the Grobe down to a quarter HP with just the rear turret. I was yelling at the computer for the damn Iowa to turn and fire a full broadside and win the game. Especially since the Grobe kept itself broadside to the Iowa for a very long time. Long enough to have fired at least three, maybe four salvos. Nope. It just kept running in a straight line until the Grobe sank it.

Unbeleivable...

I find myself yelling at bots myself. If I ever get an answer I'll let you know. o7 Swivet
